Why conformance testing matters
Validated xAPI and cmi5 implementations let learning platforms, content and analytics tools exchange data with predictable behavior, quality and interoperability.
LRS conformance testing
Official ADL tests
Run all 1,359 tests from the ADL LRS Conformance Test Suite (v1.1.1).
No setup required
No need to install Node.js, clone repositories or configure the suite locally. Enter your LRS endpoint and go.
Real-time results
Watch tests run with live progress tracking and instant pass/fail feedback.
SI-powered analysis
Detailed explanations of test failures, with implications and suggested fixes.
Secure testing
Credentials are encrypted at rest and never stored in plain text. Basic Auth and OAuth 2.0 are supported.
Community results
View shared test results from the xAPI community and compare LRS conformance across vendors.
CATAPULT cmi5 content testing
- Package validation: upload a cmi5 .zip package and validate its cmi5.xml manifest against the specification, including course structure, AUs and required elements.
- Runtime AU testing: launch individual Assignable Units in your browser, track their xAPI statements and verify cmi5 runtime behavior, including initialized, terminated and completion statements.
- Bring your own LRS: use the built-in LRS or connect any xAPI-compliant Learning Record Store.
Part of the TLA tool set
TLAtests complements TLA Toolbox, inXsol’s tools for managing competencies and xAPI Profiles.
Free to use
TLAtests is free. Optional tips support development and SI costs.
Important notes
- TLAtests provides unofficial testing based on ADL’s open-source LRS Conformance Test Suite (MIT License). Results may differ from official conformance testing and are not official xAPI or cmi5 certification. It is not an official ADL service.
- LRS test data persists without voiding, so don’t run tests against production endpoints with real learner data.
- SI-powered suggestions use community-contributed guidance and should be checked against the xAPI and cmi5 specifications.
